Today, Skybound Entertainment and Genvid Entertainment have announced a new MILE experience taking place within the universe of The Walking Dead. The Walking Dead: The Last Mile is part game, part interactive television show and will immerse participants around the globe in the universe of The Walking Dead in new and unparalleled ways. The new massively interactive live event will put the all-new TWD:LM story and protagonists in the hands of the players as the saga unfolds minute-by-minute, day-by-day, week-by-week.
MILEs were created by Genvid Entertainment and are a brand new format for interactive entertainment which bring the engagement audiences crave to low-overhead livestreams. They offer participants the choice between relaxed, lean-back experiences, or a more engaged lean-in format.
Talking about MILEs and two of the company’s first experiences, Jacob Navok, CEO, Co-Founder of Genvid said “Our goal with Rival Peak and Speak was to create an altogether new entertainment experience that merges lean-back entertainment with interactive entertainment. Facebook has been an incredible partner in this process. Using their platform we were able to seamlessly weave a global, mobile-first experience across livestreaming, VOD and games that could reach tens of millions. This tremendous success is a palpable proof of concept for this new entertainment format, and we’re already looking forward to running even bigger MILEs with major partners that will be announced in the future.”
Alongside Rival Peak and Speak, Genvid Entertainment has also helped develop PAC-MAN Community, Project Monarch, In The Black, Deadhaus Sonata, Battle Blast Heroes, and Demolition Robots K.K.
“We’re thrilled to unveil this new MILE experience that will take place in The Walking Dead universe, where fans can play games and influence this new world and its inhabitants as a community,” said Robert Kirkman, Chairman of Skybound Entertainment and creator of The Walking Dead. “With The Walking Dead: Last Mile, audience members can stream a living, breathing world of The Walking Dead, working collectively and individually to impact the story at every turn. We’re excited to collaborate with our partners Genvid and Facebook to bring this pioneering vision to life.”
