Telltale Games just unveiled two announcements regarding The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, the latest season in their The Walking Dead series. The first is a release date for physical copies of the game. Though many people play Telltale’s games through means of digital purchase, there are those who like having the physical game on their shelves as well, so for those people, the game’s physical release is February 28 in North America and March 3 in Europe.
These physical copies will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and will cost about $30, depending on which retailer you get it from. This is a little more than the price of the digital version, which costs $20-$25 (the game itself is $5, which includes the first episode, with each subsequent episode costing $5 as well, unless you buy the season pass for $15). The physical copies will contain episodes 1 and 2 upon release and will allow you to download each new episode for free as they come out.
The other announcement involved the release of episode 3 of the game. A couple of weeks ago, Job J Stauffer, the Head of Creative Communications at Telltale Games, discussed the release of episode 3 on Twitter and confirmed that it would not be out in January, but that there would be news about the episode in February. Well, we seem to have gotten at least the beginning of that news as Telltale announced today that episode 3 will be coming out in March. Many fans are upset about how long the wait period is between episode 2’s release and episode 3’s, after all, other Telltale series, like Batman, saw a new episode every month. But in the case of The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, they released two episodes simultaneously at the game’s launch, so that may have thrown off the release schedule some.
