Fans of found footage have a video game that can simulate the same feeling of dred the films give them. Horror Tales Eats The World is a game where bodycam and body horror meet in the “ultimate gore and terror experience.”
Players will be placed in a position that is reminiscent of the V/H/S movie franchise, where they discover hidden tapes that harbor unbelievable horrors within their spools. Each tape found is a new scenario to play through, each brutal in their own ways, but all drag you deep into their stories.
Some location based horror stories players can look forward to are:
File #1 Find Whitney follows Clay, who is determined to find his missing sister in a mysterious forest. On his search he finds a collection of VHS tapes that document events from the past. Watching through them may be the key to finding his sister and getting out of the forest alive.
File #2 Pyramid is about Richie and Alex, who enter the Amunetra Pyramid for nefarious purposes. As they explore the pyramid and steal anything worth value, they awaken something sinister that has been dormant for years. They find they aren’t alone anymore, mummies, insects, and more atrocities are hunting them through the narrow corridors to make them pay for their attempted theft. Does the pair leave the valuables behind to get out with their lives, or will they prioritze money and die inside?
File #3 Space Prison is a story similar to Alien. A prisoner named James is stuck in space, but an outbreak occurs where a virus spreads through the station. With everyone infected, he finds tapes left by a doctor and looks through them. They hold clues about the situation that overcame everyone in the prison, can they help him scape or will he also succum to the viral nightmare?
Horror Tales Eats The World is available to wishlist on Steam now and is expected to release October 13th, 2026.
