There is good news for fans who have been waiting for an update on The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game. Gun interactive and Sumo shared an uncut trailer for fans that will make them excited. The trailer features the slaughter family and the teens that become the victims. This trailer showcases gameplay from the game.
This game will most likely be 17+ rated as stated in the trailer. The locations in the game are from the movie and will be expanded upon that will still give fans the feeling that the locations are still true to the movie locations. As stated by Steve Kirby lead designer for Sumo Digital,
When choosing and designing the levels, we knew we wanted players to really experience the iconic locations from the original movie as well as add our own stamp on the franchise. These are key locations for the Family and their Victims and it would not be The Texas Chain Saw Massacre without them.
We wanted to allow the players to not just enter, but more importantly, fully explore and feel those places and how macabre they are, discovering not just what the movie showed, but the areas hidden from view.
In this game, stealth plays a major part. This is not the only thing that was revealed. The storyline for this game is that Maria Flores went missing and once the police search slowed down Ana (Maria’s younger sister) teamed up with Maria’s friends from college to find her. As stated by Ronnie Hobbs, creative director of Gun Interactive,
While writing Maria’s backstory, some of which you know from the radio broadcast script, we wanted to make sure we gave her character a full treatment. Maria is missing, yes, and therefore is not a playable character in our game, but still deserved to have her own personality and background. So what we have here is a road tripping college student with a passion for photography. While exploring Texas during wildflower season, Maria hoped to photograph the Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush, and numerous other flowers that spring to life in and around Central Texas this time of year. It’s this search that leads to Maria’s disappearance, and serves as the catalyst for our story. All her friends and family, and the local sheriff for that matter, know is that Maria has seemingly gone missing overnight.
Texas Chain Saw Massacre will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2023.
