The recently released teaser trailer of the Cthulhu horror game, The Sinking City, leads notices of gamers two weeks before E3 2018, the premier trade event for the video game industry in Los Angeles. This game is inspired by the Cthulhu style works by the famous American horror writer, H.P. Lovecraft.
The Sinking City, developed by Frogwares, the Ukrainian Video Game Studio which produced Sherlock Holmes Game Series, has players taking on the role as a private detective in the 1920s. Their mission is to discover the supernatural issues in the City of Oakmont, USA, where it is plagued by mysterious floods. In the game, players will walk on the edge of emotional and physical tensions from this role-playing detective perspective. Players must try to remain calm in order to find a way to survive and unravel the dark truth behind the city haunted by the ancient sea monster inspired by the Cthulhu novel series.
Like Frogwares’ previous adaption of the game series Sherlock Holmes, comparing to the original Lovecraft’s Cthulhu novel series, this trailer shows that Frogwares studio seems to have the visual specialty about video game adaptation from movies or books down to a science. From the trailer, we see the detective trying to resist the attacks from immense tentacles with his old school revolver on a boat. Unfortunately, the tentacles capsize his boat, and he falls into the water; however, with a bizarre “dutch shot” space transformation, the detective finds himself in a room after he falls into the water. Feeling like he is in a doomed surreal nightmare, the detective walks out the room into a dark space, but he gets captured by a mysterious giant hand from the shadows. Suddenly, the sea monster appears from the deep sea and tries to take the detective and innocent citizens down to the infernal void.
More information will be shown at this year’s E3 2018, so stay tuned.
