Grab your tinfoil hats and prepare for a new dose of Sims-based strangeness. A new game pack for The Sims 4 titled ‘StrangerVille‘ is arriving next week and promising some extraterrestrial shenanigans.
The Sims 4: StrangerVillie is what is called a “game pack.” It’s not quite a full expansion, such as Get Famous from last December, but it’s also not a stuff pack, like Laundry Day. Game packs are focused on bits of thematic content, such as the introduction of vampires in Vampires or the jungle vacations from Jungle Adventure. This one is notable in that it’s much more story-driven and features an event-driven storyline themed around aliens and government conspiracies.
Like previous game packs, StrangerVille will give your Sims a wide variety of new outfits to wear, including monster-of-the-week TV outfits and prairie-themed dresses. There’s also the titular town, which will feature a bunch of new locations for your Sims to visit. As the trailer shows, some pretty strange stuff happens in that town. No word so far on how much of that stuff will be a part of the main game and your Sims’ “normal” lives.
Sims veterans might recognize StrangerVille as a call back to Strangetown, a location that first appeared in the base game of The Sims 2. The place had an Area 51 vibe to it and had a wide variety of strange characters, including alien families, a mad scientist, and a black widow that managed to WooHoo with the Grim Reaper. Strangetown also appeared in a bunch of the handheld Sims 2 games, most notably the PSP one. That game had an overarching storyline featuring secret military bases, goofy cults, and alien abductions.
The Sims 4: StrangerVille releases February 26 for PC and Mac. You can get more information on the upcoming game pack on the official website. There’s also a tie-in comic available on the website, which concludes on March 8. Given the prices of previous game packs, StrangerVille will likely cost $20.
