The Sims 4 Gets Third Free-LC

Back when it was released, The Sims 4 was strongly criticized for its severe lack of content that had become staples of the franchise, such as toddlers and swimming pools. EA and Maxis since then took steps to remedy that by releasing free content patches that added missing features to the game, and yesterday the third of these patches brought new career paths and items.

This latest batch of Free-LC most prominently features two new career paths for sims to choose from, namely the business and athletic careers. The former, as you might expect, takes sims through the trials and tribulations of the typical cubical job, starting as a mailroom technician, before working their way up to managerial positions. After reaching the seventh level of this path, sims have the options of committing to either the investor branch or management branch.

On the other hand, more physical sims can get into the athletic path, which starts out with the lowly waterperson and locker room attendant positions before moving up to dance team captain. From there, they can branch off to either the professional athlete branch or bodybuilder branch.

Each of these career paths come with their own set of special outfits that sims can unlock once they reach certain positions.

Additionally, given the festive season, a free Holiday Celebration Pack has also been put out which can be redeemed either from the Origin store or within The Sims 4 itself. The pack comes with a number of Christmas outfits and decorations.

Finally, the patch also brings back the Move Objects cheat that was available in previous Sims games. This allows players to use the console to move and position objects in ways that the game normally wouldn’t allow, so players can get creative and combine multiple items into something bizarre, or clutter up their sims’ rooms by piling them high with all manner of paraphernalia. The cheat is activated as such:

  1. Type Ctrl-Shift-C to bring up the game’s console.
  2. Enter “testingcheats true”
  3. Enter “bb.moveobjects”
  4. Enter “Ctrl-Shift-C” to close the dialog box
  5. To turn off the cheat, repeat steps 1-4.

The Sims 4 is now at a point where it can somewhat stand up to its predecessors, and with the inevitable paid DLC on the way there’s reason to be optimistic that the game will be worth a full purchase. Of course, if you buy it right now you won’t have to make a full purchase anyway, as the game is currently on sale on Origin at a 33% discount for $39.99.
