In this iteration, the Prince was gifted a bola when he was a baby and gives him the power to resurrect him in the last safe place he was before he dies. This allowed him to take huge risks as he was growing up but allowed him to perfect the skills of acrobatics and combat moulding him into a formidable warrior. Unfortunately, his actions have triggered an invasion by Huns wielding powerful dark shamanic magic. So, it falls on the Prince to regain the trust of his family and save both them and his people from his mistake.
In typical Prince of Persia fashion, players will be able to flow seamlessly between platforming and combat, using the Prince’s acrobatic moves to outmanuver and outsmart enemies. The iconic wall-run can be used to open new routes of attack, avoid traps, and explore hard-to-reach areas. The game also features a kick and a dodge, allowing players to manage groups of enemies.
Evil Empire is also the developer of all the Dead Cells DLC that was released over the years and The Rogue Prince of Persia maintains a lot of that game’s DNA. Players will be able to choose between a variety of deadly weapons and equip new medallions each run, Players can also choose a variety of secondary weapons, from bows to shields to grappling hooks. Players can switch their load-outs midrun to adapt to new challenges.
“What we can say right now is that we chose Early Access because we want to work with the player community to create the best version of this game that we can,” Evil Empire said. “We believe we have created a great core of a Prince of Persia game, and we have our plans to expand it out of course, but we know how directly involving the players can make a game so much better. Especially for a roguelite with narrative elements! This interaction with the players will come with regular content updates adding all the good stuff like biomes, bosses, weapons and more story. We will be getting feedback from you, the community, before and after each update to make sure we are creating the best content possible.”
