The Rank X Splatoon 2 Hacker Has Been Console Banned

Just a couple days ago, a Splatoon 2 player decided to make a statement by hacking their way to the top of the Rank X leaderboards. This decision was carried out in the hopes that it would direct Nintendo’s attention towards the ongoing problem of cheaters. That same hacker has now had all of their cheating accounts banned, and they have also been effectively console banned.

“Looks like it took them a while to get to all of my accounts. But can confirm my console is now 2124-4027,” states the hacker in their reddit post. The nintendo error code 2124-4027 is used when dealing with console restrictions. Now, the player can, in no way, play Splatoon 2 online any longer on their console no matter what account they use.

While Nintendo did take action against one cheater, there is still a slew of other cheaters out there, and Nintendo has not made any statements or announcements regarding the issue, or about any sort of new or improved anti-cheat system. As a result, people are not happy with the outcome of this situation.

“Banning this guys’ accounts isn’t the same as adding anti-cheat.”

“Nintendo’s incompetence when it comes to anything online is truly astounding. It’s like they put an intern, that also never used internet outside of facebook”

“its a nice “screw you” by saying youre being banned for hacking which allows nintendo to keep a “hack free” environment”

These are just a few of the disgruntled comments, and one commenter is even calling for more people to cheat in Splatoon 2 to continue to send a message:

I advocate that everybody who knows how to cheat in Splatoon 2 reading this starts cheating as much as possible. It is not acceptable that Splatoon 2 lacks any sort of anti-cheating system, and Nintendo clearly doesn’t care about that. Nintendo will not do anything about this and will not implement any anti-cheating measures until cheating becomes such a major problem that they’re forced to do something to keep their game alive.

So, please, cheat. Cheat in Splatoon 2. Otherwise, cheating will still be common but not common enough for Nintendo to take action. They will keep banning individual people every once in a while instead of taking more permanent measures until cheating is enough of an issue in the game.

One might think that creating more cheaters would kill the game, but some argue that because Splatoon is one of Nintendo’s biggest IPs at the moment, a bigger cheating problem would end up forcing Nintendo’s hand.

Clearly, the Splatoon community is extremely passionate about the game and its future, and it is up to Nintendo to step in and ensure that the game doesn’t meet a slow death from hackers.
