Looks like The Pokemon Company is once again branching out into other alleyways and avenues. This time it’s something that actually makes a lot of sense, theme parks. This specific new venture is with Universal Studios Japan, and as revealed by notable Pokemon aficionado Serebii, both entities have announced partnership to create new theme park attractions for the formers venues. This new partnership will officially commence next year in 2022, with the projected end time frame being near the end of the same year.
It’s important to note that this is more than likely not a completely brand new theme park just for Pokemon. If anything, Nintendo would more than likely enact something of the sort and attach it to their already impressive Super Nintendo World. This is potentially a new expansion for an existing Universal Theme Park in Japan, specifically in Osaka. Both companies are also in their brainstorming phases, so it’s possible that something else altogether could be coming out of this at the end of that. Still, the fact that the entire premise if solely focused on Pokemon is very exciting.
The Pokemon Company isn’t the first video game-related venture for Universal Studios Japan. They’ve also worked together with Capcom for Monster Hunter, which had both attractions and the ability to earn in-game items from attending. It’s also important to note that both companies are taking the COVID-19 Pandemic seriously, as the country is still reeling from the recent surge. Hopefully, by the time that all of the Pokemon-related attractions are finished, they’ll be able to open up for everyone who wishes to attend. With the Super Nintendo World and this, a trip to Japan is looking more and more enticing.
