PC players rejoice: The Outer Worlds is finally coming to Steam this month! The Obsidian game originally released last October. For the past year, The Outer Worlds was found exclusively on Epic Games for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Now that that’s expiring, PC players will find the game on Steam for the first time since its release. The Outer Worlds was also released on Nintendo Switch earlier this year. The critically-acclaimed game was developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Private Division. Comparable to Obsidian’s Fallout games, the RPG was praised for its story-driven plot despite the shortness of it.
The Outer Worlds is a sci-fi role-playing game set in an alternative future. According to The Outer Worlds website, players explore a space colony after waking decades later than originally planned.
As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter a host of factions all vying for power, who you decide to become will determine the fate of everyone in Halcyon. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.
Obsidian Entertainment released the game’s first DLC this past month. Peril on Gorgon finds the Captain and the Unreliable crew on a mostly-abandoned asteroid, where players will find a former testing site for space drugs. Players are able to visit this site after passing the planet Monarch. This means users won’t need to finish the entire game to start playing and are able to complete quests on Gorgon at any given time. They’ll also be introduced to new characters in the expansion. Players can develop new perks and discover weapons and armor.
With the Epic Games exclusivity gone at the end of the month, The Outer Worlds will release on Steam on October 23. The Steam store page says the game will have Steam achievements, full controller support, Steam trading cards, and Steam cloud saving abilities.
