The Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom trailer that launched today demonstrates what a wonderful quest awaits players. Coming only three days before the release of the game, this trailer paints the world with vivid colors and devious battles.
Fans will be able to see King Evan embark on his quest to find a new kingdom, and find early on that such a plan does not come without a great deal of help. Various other characters are introduced, and help unite a world that is otherwise becoming saturated with terrible evils. Evan is promised to put an end to the wars that are destroying their world, despite clearly not being ready. Despite the adventure and combat in the trailer being group oriented, Evan manages to demonstrate the power he can harness in battle. Regardless, Evan must face his fears head-on, and make sure he doesn’t relinquish to the temptations running away.
We can see various gameplay elements being shown off here, such as exploration, boss cycles, and the manner in which certain combos pair with other character’s movesets. The character design features models appearing like they were just ripped from an upcoming animated film, which is standard for artist Yoshiyuki Momose, who has previously worked on various Studio Ghibli films, such as Princess Mononoke, before jumping onto Ni No Kuni. Momose also worked on Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, and provided the art direction that would make the series stand out as one of the most visually crafted RPGs of recent memory.
Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will be released for PlayStation 4 and PC on March 23.
