The game is story-driven, so as players progress throughout the game, there will be cutscenes and dialogue choices. Due to Gollum’s personality disorder, his responses are either good or bad which allows players to harm or benefit others in the game. The story focuses on Gollum, a murderous Stoor Hobbit, who is obsessed with a ring that grants him immortality. However, while the One Ring grants the wearer a long life, it has caused Gollum’s body and mind to decay. The demo takes place in the Barad Dur tower where–the fortress of Dark Lord Sauron–where players must travel through the tower avoiding orcs and climbing up towards to escape. Gollum’s skills lie in stealth and agility to dodge attacks and sneak around enemies.
As he does in the books, Gollum will be able to explore beyond Mordor allowing players a unique opportunity. Players will be able to explore more of The Lord of the Rings universe, fighting against notable enemies. He will also run into other popular characters, they were unfortunately not shown in the demo.
