A team of three developers behind Nintendo’s upcoming title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will host a panel at the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco this March.
The panel, called “Change and Constant – Breaking Conventions with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild“, will feature game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi, art director Satoru Takizawa, and technical director Takuhiro Dohta, all Nintendo veterans with years of experience working on the previous entries in the Zelda series. It is set to take place from 11am-12:30pm on March 1 at the Moscone center, placing it right in the middle of GDC’s 5-day run from February 27 -March 3.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild introduces new features and changes that break from many of the long-standing traditions of the Zelda series as a whole. The game will take a more open-world approach to the classic Zelda mechanics, allowing the player to run, climb, and hang-glide through a truly enormous 3D landscape. The panel will allow the developers to explain the impetus behind these changes, and explain in-depth how they were implemented.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the Nintendo Switch console both come out on March 3, two days after the panel. The game will also be available for play on the Wii U.
Fans unable to attend the event will be able to watch video of the panel when it is posted the following week to the GDC Vault.
