A new Sea of Thieves trailer has been released, this time shining a spotlight on the game’s combat and visuals. The game is Microsoft’s pirate-themed action-adventure multiplayer, originally due to launch this year but delayed until 2018.
Sea of Thieves boasts gameplay that lets players “form a crew and voyage to treasure-filled islands, face legendary creatures and test your mettle in epic ship battles against other pirates.” Featuring an open-world setting, the game lets players explore the seas together (or battle each other), steal treasure, and even kick back in-game and drink some grog with comrades. The trailer gives players an idea of what that exploration will be like, showing what a PVP battle on the ocean will look like, and the different roles that can be played as part of a pirate crew.
Earlier this year, developer Rare also announced that Sea of Thieves would support cross-play, and run in native 4K on the Xbox One X. Microsoft’s #BeMorePirate trailer can be viewed below, as well as Rare’s most recent behind the scenes video with in-game footage from the Xbox One X.
Sea of Thieves will be available for PC and Xbox One in early 2018.
