Sony first revealed The Last of Us: Part II During their PlayStation Experience 2016 presentation. Since then, we’ve gotten another trailer and even some gameplay of the title. But fans still have a lot of questions about the highly anticipated PlayStation Exclusive, and it’s still up in the air about when they might see the game next since Sony chose not to hold a PlayStation Experience show last year.
The last time the game was shown was at last year’s E3, and with Sony opting out of E3 this year fans are really hungry for some new details about the game. Unfortunately, there has been no word from developer Naughty Dog about when they might be ready to show off something new.
In an interesting turn of events, the website The Onion made an article that contain a joke about the The Last of Us: Part II coming out sometime this year. This in turned sparked a response from the developer’s community manager Arne Meyer where he stated that he appreciated their enthusiasm but that they will be ready to share more on the game when they are ready to do so.
Can’t say much, but we’ll put new things out when it and we are ready. Appreciate you and all of our fans’ patience!

The sequel is being directed by Anthony Newman and Kurt Margenau who worked on the original The Last of Us as well as Uncharted 4. In an interesting comment Druckmann, has stated that in this title “no one is safe.” This comment could lead players to expect some losses of major characters this go around.
However, it seems like we still have quite sometime before we will hear anything new about the title. The Last of Us: Part II does not currently have a release date.
