Another The Last of Us re-release was revealed, possibly, this time its the second installment of Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2 which may be getting a new version just like the former release of Part 1.
This was revealed by The Last of Us series composer, Gustavo Santaolalla during an interview with Blender. According to an IGN article who reported on this saying, “Santaolalla teased his cameo appearance in The Last of Us Part 2 will be expanded upon in “new editions” of the game. “In the new editions you can make me play certain themes and well, I can’t tell you anything else,” he said.” One of the interviewers at the time, expressed that he was delighted to see Santaolalla in game, as the character Gustavo playing one of his songs on a banjo. With this little cameo, it can possible get expanded in the newer version, with Santaolalla hinting that players can have Gustavo play different songs.
IGN goes on to say that although this is far from an official announcement from either Naughty Dog or PlayStation themselves, it’s the first time of any word of a new edition of the game, other than The Last of Us Part 1. They also speculate that the re-release maybe ported to the PC just like Part 1 since The Last of Us Part 2 is only on PlayStation 4, as well as the PlayStation 5.
Early this year, The Last of Us Part 1 was re-released on PlayStation 5 as well as ported to PC by Iron Galaxy and Naughty Dog, almost 10 years after the official release back in 2013 right before the HBO TV series. The port to PC was slammed hard with negative reviews and critisism due to poor optimization, performance issues, and game breaking bugs. These bugs however, have been resolved with a 25gb update a month later, and more fixes further down the line.
