The Last of Us’ success continues following its successful run earlier in the year, having the second-biggest debut on HBO since the Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon, The nominations for the 75th Annual Emmy Awards were revealed today. Succession leads all nominees with 27 awards for its fourth and final season. Coming in second place was The Last of Us with 24 nominations. With these, The Last of Us becomes the first live-action video game adaptation to score Emmy nominations.

The first video game adaptation to be nominated for Emmy was Netflix’s Arcane. The show won Best Animated Series last year.

The Last of Us has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. The show has been renewed for a second season. More may come as Creative Director Neil Drukmann and Showrunner Craig Mazin have said that the story of the second game, The Last of Us Part II, may span multiple seasons.
As far as the game series continuing, nothing official has been announced yet. However, last week, leaks revealed that development on The Last of Us Part III has begun. There is also The Last of Us Multiplayer project that was delayed yet again earlier this year.
