The King of Fighters XIV Improves Upon Previous Titles

There are changes in the next King of Fighter XIV that should make the game better than its predecessors, according to a Gamespot review. Gone are the 2D sprites, with the sprites becoming 3D. However the mps will remain in 2D, similar to most of the fighting games that have been created. It might make a gamer who prefer a traditional style, but the fighting style in the game is consistent within the game’s legacy.

KOF 14 places the player’s team against another team of three. When one sides character is eliminated, the next character comes in, starting an entirely new round. Those battles will remain as fierce and invigorating as its past predecessors, with the only notable difference between KOF 14 and KOF 13 is the battle speed, but it shouldn’t be too big an issue once you get used to pace of combat and combo timing.

Many characters that have been present in the series’ 22 year history are returning, as well as an influx of new characters, changing the already various battle styles. Despite having those characters added to the series, the visuals do not do a very good job in bringing the characters to life. The character models aren’t the best as they are a bit too animated, but it’s not too big of a deal.

The mechanics of new and the mechanics of old are supposed to be as straightforward as possible, but in case a new player is having trouble understanding the controls, the game offers a multitude of tutorials so that a new player can get used to a fighting game system that may vary from other fighting games.

Players who enjoy online play also have an easy way to do so. Parties can consist of up to 12 players and can be put into separate from players to play in based on the mode that they want to play.

Bryan Ingram: My name is Bryan. I just graduated from High Point University with a degree in Journalism. I'm 25 and writing has always been a part of my life. I'm a big Pokémon fan, so I'l spend a lot of my time playing that. Other than that, I love sports, particularly the Charlotte Hornets and the Carolina Panthers. No matter how bad the team is, I will always rep them.
