The Great Dark Beyond, Hearthstone’s Next Expansion, Launches On November 5

Today, Blizzard has announced and revealed the next expansion coming to Hearthstone. The Great Dark Beyond is the third expansion in the Year of the Pegasus and brings 145 new cards to the game, a new minion type, keyword, and the return of another keyword.

The Great Dark Beyond follows the Draenei who fled to the stars when the demonic Burning Legion invaded their planet. Now, these “Exiled Ones” are being chased across the cosmos while they search for a new home. Players will build their own starship, command the new Draenei minion type, and battle the Burning Legion as they explore The Great Dark Beyond!

The Draenei are a forward-looking and forward-thinking people filled with hope. Many of the cards will have an effect on the next Draenei that a player puts on the field.

Spellburst returns to The Great Dark Beyond. Any card with the returning Spellburst keyword gets an effort the first time you play a spell. Playing the cards right can lead to a well-timed surge in power.

The new keyword for the expansion is Starship. The Great Dark Beyond will have Starship Piece minions that when they did, will have their stats and effects get added to an in-progress Starship that’s getting constructed. When it’s ready, players can press the button and launch their Starship directly onto the board for 5 Mana.

The Great Dark Beyond is available to pre-purchase now. The Great Dark Beyond Mega Bundle includes 80 The Great Dark Beyond card packs, 10 Golden The Great Dark Beyond card packs, 1 random Signature The Great Dark Beyond Legendary card, 1 random Golden The Dark Great Beyond Legendary card, 6 Tavern Tickets, and the Prophet Velen Card Back and Priest Hero Skin.

Prior to the launch of The Great Dark Beyond, Hearthstone will be doing a week long Pre-Release Tavern Brawl from October 29 to November 5. During that time, players will be able to open The Great Dark Beyond card packs, build decks, and play with the new cards in a mini-competition until 6 wins or 3 losses. Prizes will be awarded for how well players do including more The Great Dark Beyond packs and cards.

One entry will be free for all players. Afterwards, entries will cost 2 Tavern Tickets, 300 Gold, or 400 Runestones. There will also be free The Great Dark Beyond community pack drops so everyone can play with the new cards.
