Ever since its debut in 2014, The Game Awards outdid itself, breaking viewership records every year. This year marks a ninth consecutive year of growth as The Game Awards 2023 has broken the viewership record again with 118 million livestreams. Producer Geoff Keighley said that it’s a 15% viewership compared to last year’s awards.

In 2014, The Game Awards reached 1.9 million viewers, in 2015, it went up to 2.3 million. Viewership reached 11.5 million in 2017, 83 million in 2020, and 103 million in 2022.

The Game Awards 2023 was streamed live from the Peacock Theater in L.A. across more than 30 platforms including YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, TickTok Live, X (Twitter), Steam, WeChat, Bilibili, Huya, DouYu, Xiaohongshu, and Instagram Live. This year’s show was co-steamed by more than 17,000 individual content creators and online influencers.
On @YouTubeGaming the 4K TGA feed delivered a 53% jump in YoY peak concurrently to over 900K. Platform-wide (including co-streams), TGA on YouTube was up 35% to over 1.7M peak concurrent. 4,000 channels co-streamed the show on YouTube.

Keighley noted that there was a 53% jump in YoY peak concurrency to over 900K on the 4K TGA feed for YouTube Gaming while TGA on YouTube was up over 35% to over 1.7M peak concurrent. 4,000 channels co-streamed the show on YouTube.
On @Twitch, co-streaming was up 24% YoY, with over 13,680 creators co-streaming. Peak concurrent audience on Twitch hit 1.94M, with total live watch time up 10% YoY. The new “Twitch Predicts The Game Awards” extension reached nearly 4 million views w/ peak audience of 330K.

13,680 creators co-streamed the show on Twitch which saw an increase of 24% YoY in co-streaming. The peak concurrent audience on Twitch hit 1.94M, with total live watch time up 10% YoY.
Baldur’s Gate III and Alan Wake II led this year’s nominees with Alan Wake II taking home three awards and Baldur’s Gate III winning six awards including the coveted Game of the Year.
