Following several teases and sneak peeks over the last few years, a new trailer for Forspoken was released, showcasing main character Frey’s mysterious abilities she has acquired after getting transported to a mysterious world. The game launches on May 24, 2022.
The new trailer reveals the best look yet at the magical combat of the game. Frey has access to numerous types of magical abilities that cater to a variety of playstyles. Frey fights up close and personal with fire, seems to be able to turn invisible by blending with nature and can strike from afar with water. There are also a variety of other abilities that Frey can utilize such as lighting. She can also use rocks and pepper enemies like a machine gun.
The land of Athia features a variety of diverse environments that Frey can travel to using magic parkour that allows her to scale walls, vault across canyons, leap from dizzying heights, and dash through vast landscapes.
The trailer also reveals some of the story as Frey struggles to find her place in the land of Athia as she tries to find a way back home. A new character was also revealed in the trailer. Tanta Prav is a maddened evil sorceress. She is being played by The Walking Dead’s Pollyanna McIntosh. “It’s been wild playing Tanta Prav and I’m excited for players to meet her and experience her as Frey does: a remorseless, unrelenting powerhouse, full of secrets,” said McIntosh. “I think she will prove to be a ruthless adversary for players as they follow Frey on her journey in the land of Athia.” The trailer also reveals more about an impending corruption called the “Break”. The Break is a devastating miasma that relentlessly corrupts everything it touches. Frey has survived the Break which gives the land of Athia a beacon of hope.
