Bethesda Softworks shared in a blog post today that The Elder Scrolls Online will be free to play for an entire week, starting tomorrow.
The free week will officially last from April 11, 2017 at 10:00 am EDT to 10:00 am EDT on April 18, 2017. The game will be available for free to everyone on Steam and PlayStation 4, but is only available on Xbox One for Xbox Live Gold members.
Players who download the free version will have access to the entire base game of The Elder Scrolls Online, not including any of the DLC pack game areas. Upon creating their new account, players will receive a gift of 500 crowns to spend in-game at the Crown Store, redeemable for in-game items such as Crown Crates, unique outfits, and XP boosts.
This free week also happens to fall in the middle of a currently-ongoing three-year anniversary event for The Elder Scrolls Online, which new free trial players are encouraged to take part in. During this event, players can go on a brand new quest and unlock a new item, the “2nd Annual Jubilee cake”, which they can slice up and share with their squadmates in-game for a tasty XP boost that grants a 100% increase to experience for 2 hours.
There will also be a “Free Play Sale” coinciding with the free week, giving discounts on various in-game items such as crowns and scrolls, as well as on the base Elder Scrolls Online game itself, available on the Steam Store, PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and The Elder Scrolls Online Store.
This free week comes at an ideal time to build hype for the game’s big upcoming expansion, The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind. The expansion drops this June and will bring new lands to explore, new playable classes, new storylines, a new PvP battleground, and more; check out the trailer below:
