The Division Is Headed To Theaters

According to Polygon, The immensely popular Ubisoft game: Tom Clancy’s The Division will be joining Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs as major motion pictures. It seems Ubisoft is very serious about expanding their media empire.

The film has attracted A-list talent. Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal, both oscar nominated actors, are currently attached to the project according to their production companies. The film itself will be developed in partnership with Ubisoft Motion Pictures. Ubisoft did not confirm what roles the two afore mentioned actors will be playing but hinted they will be paramount.

Ubisoft has thrust its influence in the film industry over the last half decade, starting with Assassin’s Creed, which fill be coming to theaters this winter. Ubisoft has used the popularity of its games to convince various studios to join their crusade on theaters. One such studio is New Regency. New Regency is partnering with Ubisoft on Assassin’s Creed, is also joining with the developer on big screen renditions for Watch Dogs and Splinter Cell.

With The Division being the hit that it was one can only expect that the motion picture adaptation will be the same. Ubisoft is spending the money and aquaring the talent to make these video game movies the right way. This is something that has been absent in video games made into film. With Ubisoft leading the way it will be very interesting to see what other studios follow and dump their money into bringing their words to fans on the silver screen.

Ubisoft’s first franchised movie will be Assassin’s Creed in theaters December 21st. This will be a monumental moment for the company as it will showcase just how good they are at translating their vision to theaters. Hopefully they end up like marvel and start their own genre revolution.

Go get your seats now.
