The Division 2 Technical Alpha Set to Start This Weekend

Ubisoft has announced that their upcoming online shooter The Division 2 is set to run a closed technical alpha that starts this weekend.  The technical alpha is set to start this Saturday, December 15, at 8 AM EST and will run until 5 AM EST on Tuesday December 18. The technical alpha will be available to to a limited number of players that have been selected from the people who have already signed up for the game’s eventual beta test. Players selected have the ability to preload the alpha starting today, December 13.

The technical alpha will only be available on PC via Ubisoft’s Uplay service. Players lucky enough to get into the closed alpha will also have to sign a nondisclosure agreement (NDA). Thus, no details, gameplay, nor impressions from the alpha of the game will be allowed to be shared with the public. For players who miss the technical alpha, Ubisoft will have a closed beta for The Division 2 that will be available to those who preorder the game or sign up on Ubisoft’s official website, though no date has been given for the beta at this time. Unlike the alpha, the beta will come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as PC.

The technical alpha for The Division 2 will come a week after 2019’s other major online shooter, BioWare’s Anthem, hosts its own closed alpha. The Division 2 had its debut at E3 back in June after being announced at the beginning of the year. The game’s predecessor also hit the 20 million player mark for its second anniversary earlier this year. The Division 2 is set for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 15, 2019.
