There will be some differences between the Open Beta and the recent Private Beta. The character level cap for the Open beta has been increased to level 8. There is a an additional story mission called Viewpoint Museum and an additional skill called Chem Launcher which will come with two variants, Riot Foam and Explosive Vapor. Two additional Settlement Projects with the second upgrade of the Theatre and an additional Skirmish PVP map called Capitol Ruins will also launch on the Open Beta.
Players will be limited to one character during the beta. You will cycle through various presets of customization features to create your Agent, and the character is able to be deleted as well.
In all, three main missions are available to play – Grand Washington Hotel, Jefferson Trade Center, and Viewpoint Museum. These are all available to play on Normal and Hard modes. Side missions will become available as you explore the map, with each possessing a specific level range. There are four named zones that you will explore parts of: The White House (which is also the Base of Operations), Downtown East, The Federal Triangle, and the Smithsonian.
Dark Zone East which is on the right side of the map is the one Dark Zone map that will be available in the Open Beta. In order to access it, you will have to undertake an introduction mission from a character in the Base of Operations. Completing the mission unlocks full access to the Dark Zone and its features which includes its own perk system, extractions, normalization and matchmaking, checkpoints, and occupied Dark Zones.
You can also try out The Division 2’s organized PVP mode, Conflict. Skirmish is the one mode that will be available during the Open Beta. You can play the mode on two maps, Stadium and Capitol Ruins.
A portion of The Division 2’s end game will also be featured. After completing Jefferson Trade Center, you gain access to an end-game mission that unlocks three level 30 characters. You can try out the end-game when you log in with one of these characters. Each character will be equipped with a different Specialization.
The Division 2 releases March 15, 2019 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
