The Forest received a hefty content update that launched today. The team at Endnight Games has been getting mostly positive reactions since its official release and its lengthy development life. The game continues its unique style of allowing for complete player freedom in the “living, breathing forest.” The December update will affect both PC and PlayStation 4 players. Check out the update trailer below:
The Forest has not been out on the PlayStation 4 for very long and players are already getting regular updates such as the December update and constant bug fixing. The self-dependent gameplay will become even more extreme from not only the dangers of the mysterious living things in the greenery, but new natural events that players will need to become aware of as well. Reaching out to the survival audience even more, the update adds a new type of terrifying creature that is featured in the trailer. Additionally, survivors will now be able to use crossbows and bolts.
To make travel more exciting, survivors can now use the new hang glider to move faster from heights. The hang glider can be crafted just like other items in game. In terms of base-building, there are 8 new structures and other sandbox improvements. These include fuel gauges on chainsaws, the new mountain area in the map, and a slew of multiplayer changes. Also, hosts can now be worry-free when kicking cheaters and other bugs.
Receiving mostly positive reviews online, The Forest has set itself apart as a horror, survival game that allows players to build a camp of varying sizes, which could also be a treehouse. Fight back mother nature, grow food, and discover the mysterious individuals that span over the forest at night. Stealth and head on attacks are both proven gameplay styles, so it should be interesting to see how players utilize the new equipment according to their playing styles.
