It’s been an eventful week for fighting games, with Bandai Namco’s Tekken World Tour Finals happening for Tekken 8 as well as the latest patch for Street Fighter 6 dropping alongside the teaser trailer for Mai Shiranui being the latest character in Street Fighter 6’s season. Speaking of SNK characters and teaser trailers, it looks like the dangerous duo of Mature and Vice are finally making their way into King of Fighters XV, giving a break to the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves reveals and returning back to the KoF franchise on December 12th, 2024.
Surprisingly consistent roster additions for a pair of women who died 20 or so years ago, Vice and Mature were two characters who were conspicuous by their absence in the base King of Fighters XV game, now with their arrival Iori can finally have his ghost girlfriends bugging him again.
Armed with her signature slashes and Rugal-esque corner throw, Mature is the faster of the duo using her speed and finesse to rush opponents down. Meanwhile Vice retains her satisfying and hard hitting style from the previous games, ruthlessly beating foes down and tossing them away before pulling them back in for even more of a beatdown.
As shown in the final shot of the trailer, Vice and Mature round out the Orochi Saga Hakkesshu characters featured in the series (Ryuji Yamazaki, Goenitz, Chris, Leona, Shermie, and Yashiro already being in the game). As stated, King of Fighters XV has taken a bit of a backseat in terms of news to SNK’s upcoming release Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, so it’s good to see that their current game isn’t exactly abandoned like some other fighting game franchises tend to do. There may be more DLC characters after this but even if the releases were to stop here, Vice and Mature are a high note to end on.
