To cap it off, two new treats dropped on YouTube for fans of the game: the new Story Trailer and Gameplay Overview part 3. The Blood of Dawnwalker-Story Trailer focuses on Coen and his family. Through a dream occurring while Coen is sleeping on the ground with a bloody mouth, we see parts of his life, where he is working in a field, with his mother, little brother and father traversing the field too. Before the famous line “I want you to watch” occurs as Coen watches members of his family get sliced, bitten and killed by Vampires. Before Coen is bitten by Brencis, a powerful vampire and turns into a dawnwalker with pointed teeth. Brencis lifts his father up, slicing a part of his neck open and Coen goes to attack his father then he wakes up.
Parts of the game world are revealed, showing a village and houses when Coen wakes up in a healers tent asking “Where are my family,” as the trailer progresses it is established that in “30 days” Brencis will become a “prince” and he wants to “mark the occasion with my family’s blood.” Healer “Anca,” gives Coen a chance against Brencis, by carving markings onto his hand that give rise to black smoke. Coen slices his hand and fights against soldiers, men, monsters and people in all white robes. He looks for “allies” with both human and non-human characters, and tries to “joining the rebellion.” The trailer then explains a bit more about Coen’s dawnwalker abilities, it seems that he’s unique because his vampire characteristics are locked during the day and unlocked at night. Another vampire is introduced, who vehemently hates Brencis, she takes him into a room with a floating blood circle.
Coen fights against even more enemies, in one fight he uses what looks like a blood powered sonic scream. But, he is cautioned against taking things “a step too far,” as visuals of the healer biting someone, and Coen himself pulling the rebellion leader’s hair and biting his neck, and threatening Anca. A montage of the rebel leader questioning Coen, conflicts and fights with other characters, a duo fight between Coen and the rebel leader against a soldier, before the leader kills someone in blue, because they’re “both far beyond redemption.” Thus introducing players to the morality centered discussion that the game and game choices will champion in the upcoming drop. From there a final montage shows characters, actions and lastly the eventual fight between Coen and Brencis which ends the trailer on a high note. This Story trailer alongside the Road to Launch Event puts The Blood of Dawnwalker on a very high pedestal, with so many options and gameplay surprises it’s to no surprise that it’s one of the most anticipated games this year.
