The Awards Of Gamescom

With Gamescom coming to an end, the many games showcased have been given various awards. Among the highlights are Zelda: Breath of the Wild which too the highest achievement at Gamescom. Other games to achieve similar high awards are For Honor and Sea of ThievesFor Honor was awarded best PS4 game, and Sea of Thieves was awarded the best Xbox One game.

Although these games were given high awards, there were a lot of games showcased and new trailers revealed giving a lot of hope for the future of gaming. Zelda also took the best Wii U game award along with the best overall game award. Some other highlights that caught GameSpot’s eyes were that “Battlefield 1 took Best Action Game, Forza Horizon 3 claimed Best Racing Game, and Final Fantasy XV won Best Role-Playing Game. Little Nightmares received the indie award, and it might be the best thing we saw at Gamescom.”

These awards were awarded based on a committee of “experts” which had to make a choice of 73 nominations out of the 200 total entries, and then from those nominations the winners were chosen and the chosen ones were the winners of the awards. The list of winners is as follows:

  • Best Preview/Vision: Horizon: Zero Dawn (Sony)
  • Best Booth: Mafia III (2K)
  • Best PlayStation 4 Game: For Honor (Ubisoft)
  • Best Xbox One Game: Sea of Thieves (Microsoft)
  • Best Wii U Game: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo)
  • Best PC Game: For Honor (Ubisoft)
  • Best Mobile Game: Mario Party Star Rush (Nintendo)
  • Best Role-Playing Game: Final Fantasy XV (Square Enix)
  • Best Racing Game: Forza Horizon 3 (Microsoft)
  • Best Action Game: Battlefield 1 (Electronic Arts)
  • Best Simulation Game: NBA 2K17 (2K)
  • Best Sports Game: Steep (Ubisoft)
  • Best Family Game: Skylanders Imaginators (Activision)
  • Best Strategy Game: Sid Meier’s Civilization VI (2K)
  • Best Puzzle/Skill Game: Dragon Quest Builders (Square Enix)
  • Best Social/Online Game: Gwent: The Witcher Card Game (CD Projekt Red)
  • Best Casual Game: Battlezone (Rebellion)
  • Best Multiplayer Game: Sea of Thieves (Microsoft)
  • Best Virtual Reality Game: Wilson’s Heart (Twisted Pixel)
  • Best Hardware: PlayStation VR (Sony)
  • Indie award: Little Nightmares (Bandai Namco)
  • Consumer award: Battlefield 1 (Electronic Arts)
  • Best of Gamescom: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo)
