Yesterday it was announced on the blog of the official website for the game Valheim that the Ashlands update for the game will be coming in the first half of 2024. Valheim is a role-playing Survival game where up to 10 players can “craft weapons, construct longhouses and slay mighty foes to prove themselves to Odin”. Players will be able to explore a world that is surrounded by mystery. Along the way, you will find
distinct environments with unique enemies to battle, resources to gather and secrets to uncover! Be a viking, sail the open seas in search of lands unknown, and fight bloodthirsty monsters.
The game Valheim was released in March of this year by gaming developer Iron Gate Studios. Iron Gate Studios is a gaming developer located in Sweden. The game went into early Access on Steam in 2021. Valheim can be played on platforms such as Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. In the announcement, Iron Gates Studios said that Valheim will “hit the PTB (Public Test branch) first and then the live version a short while after that”.
In the announcement, they also added a video of the first episode of Walk & Talk videos called Making The Ashlands. In the video “community manager Josefin, artist/generalist Robin, and programmer Jonathan” talk about Valheim and the Ashlands. Robin the “Generalist/artist, art director, and lead of Ashlands” had this to say about where the concept of the Ashlands started:
I sat down and didn’t have much to do, and I wanted to do some concept art . I had an idea of Ashlands , or what it could be, and I was thinking a lot about Terminator 2:Judgement Day the movie. If we could just not go for the classic fire demons and lava golems, if we could go for something like, more undead. That’s where the it all started, I think.
In the blog, they also gave players little sneak peek of the Ashlands. They gave fans a sneak peek of the Ashlands by giving players a glimpse at the dishes that were cooked “in the Ashlands kitchen” like mashed meat, “a glimpse of the plants that thrive in the Ashlands” and a sneak peek of what “you’ll be able to look like in the Ashlands”. A specific date in 2024 for the Ashlands update has not been announced just that it’s arriving “in the first half of 2024”. If you want more information and updates on the game Valheim just go to their official website and or their social media.
