The Arkham Knight Is Back, But Then Was Gone Again (Update)

Update Sept. 4, 2015: In response to the premature release of the Batman: Arkham Knight PC patch, Warner Bros. has re-released the patch properly this time around. The patch is now available to all those who had previously bought the PC version of the Arkham Knight.

Along with the release of the patch there are some notes regarding the patch:

  • Reduced frame-rate hitches
  • Optimizations for system memory and VRAM usage
  • Improved performance on all GPUs
  • More comprehensive in-game settings
  • Fixed low resolution texture bugs
  • Fixed hitches when running on mechanical hard drives (HDD)

While the patch has been released Warner has said it was going to continue working on improving the game for upcoming updates. Here is what’s on the way:

  • Adding support for SLI and Crossfire
  • Adding support for the latest DLC and Season Pass content
  • Adding support for additional updates such as Photo Mode
  • Continued improvements and bug fixing for a Windows 7 specific memory issue that occurs on configurations with 8GB of system RAM and some Nvidia GPUs during extended game play.
  • Continued improvements for Windows 10 specific issues on systems with some AMD GPUs.

Unfortunately, while the patch is now available the game itself remains off sale

Original Story Sept. 3, 2015: Warner Bros yesterday released a patch for the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight, but it was taken down shortly after release.

The patch, which was 626MB, was sent out to a specific group of Steam customers. Warner Bros pulled the patch because it was released ahead of schedule. According to Eurogamer, Warner had promised to release a patch back in August, but it did not surface. It was later reported that Warner Bros would be releasing the patch sometime in September, but it was a bit premature for the patch that was released last night.

The customers in question were taking part in a beta version of the game. Reports from the customers, who were allowed access to the patch, were fairly positive. Some of the players took to the Steam discussion board say that the patch helped the Arkham Knight’s PC frame rate, stating that was smooth and that many of the problems from launch, as reported here on the site, had been resolved.

It is unclear when the patch will be making its way to customers, but the current PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight remains off sale.
