Two videos from different angles have surfaced online – both showing Pokémon GO gameplay that was premiered at the Niantic Labs panel during SXSW’s gaming expo.
In the footage, we get to see a bit of the world as the speaker explains how Pokémon will be found in certain areas and settings “best suited to their natures.” We also get to see a player taking a shot at capturing a wild Ivysaur – notice how the screen tilts and interacts with the live environment behind it.
After the Ivysaur is captured, we see the Pokémon’s stats appear, and the speaker explains that he goes into the Pokédex – just like with any other Pokémon game.
Niantic was supposed to hold a half-hour presentation at GDC last week, but cancelled in order to “focus on getting the product ready for beta test and launch.” Pokémon GO will be beta tested in Japan, and is expected to release sometime this year for iOS and Android.
