While we’ve known for a while that Telltale has been working on a new series in the same vein as their critically acclaimed Walking Dead games, there’s been no mention of a release date. That changed today as apparently The Wolf Among Us, based on the comic book series “Fables”, is being released this Friday.
A season pass for the new series is available now on Steam for $22.49, which will go up to $24.99 when the first episode launches. Xbox owners can try out the first episode, Faith, for $4.99, and if you like it you can pre-purchase the rest of the episodes for $14.99. No word yet on a Playstation release, but considering The Walking Dead was readily available for PS3 it’s hard to imagine Telltale would delay releasing it on Playstation for more than a few days.
Set in the “Fables” universe, the main setting of the game is Fabletown, a block of New York that is secretly made up of refugee fable characters who have been displaced from their magical homelands by an army of monsters. The Wolf Among Us casts you as the Big Bad Wolf, now going by Bigby in his new position of sheriff of Fabletown, as you keep the peace and solve mysteries within the strange, diverse community of fables.
