With all the success of Telltale’s Walking Dead series it is no question that fans have been waiting for a new season to come out. Well fans wait no more, a new season will be out this November. According to details that Gamespot got from Telltale’s PAX West panel, they said that Season 3 will take place a few years after Season 2 with Clementine returning as the protagonist along with a new character named Javier. With the events taking place a few years after Season 2 Clementine would have grown up a bit more and she probably experienced a lot more encounters with the Walking Dead to help her survive better.
Both Clementine and Javier will be playable characters throughout the season. What makes this dynamic interesting is that both characters had different pasts, but with a similarity of the struggle to protect the people that they love. This bond is what could have brought the two together to fight together to survive the horrors of this apocalyptic world. Executive producer Kevin Boyle says, “Javier will begin to unravel the mystery of who Clementine has become, as her story intersects with his–both of them still driven by the things they value most long after society’s collapse.” It will be refreshing to see a new playable survivor with an unknown background and learn about him and how his background could have an effect on the group’s dynamic.
The game will be available on disk and for digital download on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, PS3, and Xbox 360. A disk copy will have the season pass included with the purchase, but would still require an internet connection as only the first season is available on the disk, and you would need to download the rest as they are released. Telltale has explained that they will keep the formula like the other seasons so nothing new to the mechanics and style will change. A scheduled release date and price for the first episode has not been announced yet, but could hopefully be released soon.
