Telltale Releases New Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer Ahead of Tuesday Launch

Telltale Games, the company behind such dialogue-based, point-and-click adventure games as The Walking DeadTales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us, is releasing the first episode of their adaptation of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy tomorrow (April 18). Before its launch, however, Telltale shared one last trailer for the game via social media and their YouTube channel.

From the new trailer, it looks like there will be a lot of action sequences in the game. It is also now apparent that Thanos will not only be in the game, but will play a large role, at least in the first episode. If I had to guess, based on Thanos’ roles in other Marvel media, I would say that Thanos will probably play a big part in the rest of the game as well.

At PAX EAST earlier this year, Telltale mentioned a powerful object that the villain not only wants but that each individual member of the Guardians of the Galaxy also want for themselves. It was implied that this object was the main driving force in the game, rather than simply defeating a villain. Though it wasn’t mentioned explicitly, we may have gotten a look at this object in the trailer. A few times, we can see either Thanos or Star-Lord holding an object that looks like two triangular prisms connected at the points. It is still unclear what the object does, but if this is in fact the object, then it is safe to assume that it is in the possession of Thanos and the Guardians of the Galaxy at various points in the game (or maybe who gains possession of the object is determinant on what choices you make in the game).

The first episode of Guardians of the Galaxy, “Tangled Up in Blue,” will be made available tomorrow on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Android devices and iOS devices. You can watch the full trailer below.
