Citizens of Gotham City, rejoice: Telltale Games has announced a release date for the next episode of Batman: The Enemy Within. The episodic series saw a slight hiatus over the holiday season, but now it has returned with its penultimate episode.
If you aren’t familiar with the series, this season has largely revolved around Bruce discovering and infiltrating a sinister crime organization known as the Pact. More and more of Gotham’s villains seem to be tied to their activities, including Harley Quinn and her friend and recently released Arkham patient John Doe…who definitely doesn’t look anything like the joker.
The last episode saw our hero in peril, so fans have been eager to get their hands on the next installment. In their announcement, Telltale released a summary of the episode to come:
When the Pact puts its plan into motion, Bruce’s cover is finally blown, and as his web of lies unravels, new questions emerge: When and how will the Pact regroup? What’s truly motivating Amanda Waller and the Agency? And perhaps most importantly, how will John Doe handle the truth about his buddy Bruce? With another showdown brewing, the clown prince of crime may finally earn his crown…
This is the second season of Telltale’s Batman franchise, so if you played the first season, your choices will carry over into this one and have an effect on the story. However, developers have been clear that it is also made to stand on its own. Even if you missed the previous season, you can jump right in.
Batman: The Enemy Within also includes Telltale’s relatively new multiplayer system, “Crowd Play.” This feature allows users with a mobile device and internet access to weigh in on the decisions the player is making. The feature was available in the previous season as well.
Episode 4: “What Ails You” drops on January 23 for Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and mobile. Fans in North America and Europe can also buy a Season Pass disc, which includes the first episode and download access for all the rest.
