Bandai Namco revealed TEKKEN 8’s latest milestone in a recent earnings call. Since it’s release on January 25, TEKKEN 8 managed to sell over 2 million units. According to Bandai Namco, the milestone was better than they had initially expected.
This milestone exceeds previous records of TEKKEN’s rival franchises in 2023. Street Fighter 6 reached its 2 million sales milestone a month following its launch, and Mortal Kombat 1 made the milestone in 2 months. TEKKEN 8 even beat out its previous installment TEKKEN 7, which took the same time as Mortal Kombat 1 to reach its 2 million milestone.
TEKKEN 8 continues the Mishima-Kazama bloodline saga, as Jin takes a stand against his father Kazuya, who is hellbent on world domination following his victory over his own father Heihachi Mishima.
Outside of its epic story, TEKKEN 8 continues to showcase its franchises influence within the fighting game sphere, bringing both new and old fans together. Alongside a large roster of characters, and ever expanding content thanks to DLC, the games upgraded visuals and new mechanics makes every fight an intense battle. Additionally, it’s Character Customization and new single player mode Arcade Quest gives even more options for casual players to enjoy.
TEKKEN 8 is currently available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Fans that want to stay up to date on future content should head over to the game’s official website and social media.
