Tekken 8 Includes Incredible In-Depth Colorblind Customization

Accessibility is an important part of modern video game trends, and a very commendable one to chase after. There are even awards at several game shows revolving around the accessibility options games provide to incentivize further accessibility to disabled gamers and those unable to perform in games using the traditional settings and controls, and it seems that the gaming industry has made another stride towards making gaming accessible to all with Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8 introducing a brand new and innovative colorblind mode.

As shown above, the colorblind mode really goes out of its way to make things more legible visually for those who are visually impaired, at least through the color-blind spectrum. The gray on white background is a pretty extreme example, though, though some people may need such help. But as shown in the rest of the thread there are a plethora of options available for players who need them, with the option to make some colors brighter, darker, or everything in between with various blinders and shaders to help those who need it.

Especially in a genre like fighting games, where colors can be part of a move’s tell and are very necessary to see to be able to react to, this innovation is absolutely stunning. And on top of various other quality-of-life features that Tekken 8 has to make things smoother for players to customize their experience and journey to improvement it looks like Bandai Namco is really stepping things up in terms of catering to their players and trying to provide the most player-friendly experience possible. Hopefully features such as this are made more widely available and become an industry standard, video games shouldn’t be hindered by visual impairments, and every step taken to improving the experience for those who are visually impaired is a correct one for the industry.
