Techland Announces Their Next Project Will Be Open-World Fantasy Action RPG

Concept Art for Techland's Unannounced Game

After a long grueling wait, Dying Light 2 Stay Human was released this past February. While Techland seems busy working on the game’s story expansion slated for a September release, the game publisher has its sights on future projects for their company.

In a press release on Tuesday, May 17, Techland teased their next big project, an untitled AAA open-world fantasy action RPG. Unfortunately, there was no further detail given as to what goes on in this new elusive game, except for a piece of beautiful concept art. Techland CEO Paweł Marchewka elaborated further on the company’s expanding ambition:

“…Our ambition is to introduce a brand new IP that is vastly different from what we have been doing for the past several years. We want to create a fully next-gen experience. A new fantasy epic set in a sprawling open world, fueled by the skills and experience we have gained as a team over the years, infused with new ideas, passion, and creativity…”

Following the press release, Techland took to Twitter to officially announce recruitment for new talents for the game.

Techland also revealed more members of their new team assembled to lead the charge on their newest IP. Their most notable members are Narrative Director Karolina Stachyra, who worked with CD Projekt Red on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its DLCs, and Narrative Lead Arkadiusz Borowik who worked with CD Projekt Red on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as well as its DLCs.

Working alongside Stachyra and Borowik are five other members, each adding their expertise in their respective fields. Open World Director Bartosz Ochman, Creative Director Mario Maltezos, Lead Game Designer David McClure, Lead Animator Kevin Quaid, and Lead UI/UX Designer Marcin Surosz.

While this new IP seems like a massive departure from the grit and grime of the Dying Light franchise, Techland’s enthusiasm and the number of talent behind it seem like the making of their next big hit.

Caitlyn Taylor: New media and entertainment have been apart of my life since I was very young, and I don't think that interest will ever go away. When I'm bored, I immerse myself in lore videos no matter the length.
