Merely week after announcing the remake of their character action classic Ninja Gaiden II in the form of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Team Ninja saw fit to keep the announcements rolling, and this latest one is something Team Ninja enthusiasts have been waiting for since last year: Rise of the Ronin is finally coming to PC.
Initially announced as a console exclusive for the Playstation 5, Rise of the Ronin is probably the best example of console exclusivity killing a game’s popularity in its crib. Due to its exclusivity, many players simply lost interest in the game from the word go and never gave it a second glance, but with Rise of the Ronin coming to PC it looks like players will finally give this game a chance.
And it’s a good thing that players are going to try this game out, as Rise of the Ronin takes a lot of the lessons Team Ninja learned from their work on the Nioh series as well as Final Fantasy: Stranger of Paradise and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and put those lessons in an open world environment. Definitely a very ambitious endeavor, but Team Ninja are nothing if not ambitious, and they’ve been aggressively chasing that cult classic status that Nioh gained them several years ago.
Of course, Rise of the Ronin is a staggering 180 GB large, so you might have to clear out some spare files here and there if you want to play it, but if you’re a big fan of the feudal Japan setting Rise of the Ronin is definitely the best game set in Japan’s past that’s going to come out in March of this year, so if you’re interested be sure to check out Rise of the Ronin’s Steam page and pre-order if the mood strikes you in anticipation of the March 10th, 2025 release.
