Team Ninja has announced Nioh’s final DLC release “Bloodshed’s End” which marks the conclusion of the storyline from DLC’s prior to this one.
Nioh is a game produced by Koei Tecmo and features protagonist William, on a journey through warring Japan fighting samurai, Yokai (demons) and other supernatural monstrosities destroying the land and everyone in it. The game “…takes place during the Warring States Period of Japanese history alongside strategic, sword-fighting action,” and Koei Tecmo is no stranger to creating games that follow a similar background. Fans that follow their Samurai Warriors franchise may recognize the names of some characters featured in the games, surrounding the Warring States Period of Japan as well.
Nioh proves to be much darker in style than the Samurai Warriors franchise however, and will conclude its run with the final DLC “Bloodshed’s End.” Team Ninja creative director Tom Lee says the story takes place after the latest DLC content in “Defiant Honor” which was released in July, which featured new weapons and battles against renowned ninja warriors. “Bloodshed’s End” will feature similar mission content released in previous DLCs, including main missions, sub missions, and Twilight missions. However, this being the last DLC, Lee has announced one more feature added called “The Abyss” and says:
“Here, the strongest warriors can test their skills in a perpetual battleground. This new mode offers epic battles and unique challenges for the most skilled players. We’ll have more to reveal on this mode before launch.”
He also says “As always, this DLC will provide you with the usual suspects to complete your Nioh experience — new Yokai, new characters, a new difficulty level and new Guardian Spirits,” so players wanting to challenge themselves will receive the chance to do so with both “The Abyss” mode and the new difficulty setting. If Koei Tecmo increases the difficulty in Nioh similar to how they have done so in other fighting games, there will definitely be a noticeable change in the strategies and skill-set needed to tackle battles in this update.
Nioh’s final DLC “Bloodshed’s End” will release September 26 for $9.99 on the PlayStation Store. The DLC will be free for players that have already purchased the season pass, which had also been used to access past updates such as “Defiant Honor” and “Dragon of the North.”
