Back in 2019, developer Team Cherry got fans very excited with the announcement of Hollow Knight: Silksong. However, ever since then, there has been no word on it and it hasn’t made any appearance on any major livestream showcase or event, it has seemingly disappeared leading many to wonder if it would ever see the light of day. Thankfully for those wondering, Team Cherry has provided small update on the game.
This all stems from Hollow Knight content creator fireB0rn who tweeted out a response that got from Matthew Griffin, who handles Marketing and PR for Team Cherry, regarding possible clues left by one of the developers who changed their profile picture and name on Twitter. Many took this as a hint that more information would be revealed about the game during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct in April. Griffin confirmed that wasn’t the case.
Then Griffin responded to a fan’s call for an update on the game and whether or not the game has been canceled.”Yes the game is real, progressing and will release,” Griffin said.
Team Cherry says that Hollow Knight: Silksong will introduce a brand new kingdom, over 150 new enemies, and a new difficulty setting that greatly changes the game after the first playthrough called Silk Soul mode.
Following it’s intital reveal, the game was delayed back in May 2023. “We had planned to release in the 1st half of 2023, but development is still continuing,” Griffin said at the time. “We’re excited by how the game is shaping up, and it’s gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can.” We’ll have to wait and see when the game makes its next appearance but at least we know that the game is still being worked on and is planned to come out at some point in the future.
