Tango Fiesta Launches Killionaire Update

London based independent developer Split Milk Studios, known for games such as Hardlines and Crunch, announced the release of a major update to their newest title, Tango Fiesta. The game, which is still undergoing beta testing, is a top-down, cooperative 2D shooter designed to parody the stereotypes of 80’s action movies.

Tango Fiesta gives players the chance to take on the role of one of their favorite cliché action heroes, ranging from the no-nonsense commando John Strong to Bionic Cop, a deranged law enforcement offer suffering from delusions of being a robot. The game also recently welcomed its fifth playable character, Conchita, a quick but fragile female assassin. Players can then team up to gun down a host of baddies in dynamically generated, endlessly scrolling stages comprised of fully destructible buildings and terrain. Split Milk has announced plans to add an upgrade system to the game as well as a more concrete campaign with boss fights, however these features have yet to take shape at the current stage of development.

The game’s most recent updated, Killionaire, adds a new stage to the mix. The stage, which is designed to be the stage of a futuristic, gladiatorial gameshow, features mazes of deadly traps and rapidly changing terrain. The map also includes five new bosses, ranging from a potential John Strong nemesis known as General Payne to an ex-wrestler named Snowflake to Dr. Fahrenheit, an arsonist armed with a flamethrower. Each of the bosses, with the exception of Payne, also brings a themed weapon to the game which can be acquired by players and used to wreak havoc on the battlefield. In addition to host of new features, Killionaire also brings a number of improvements to the game’s sound effects and voiced dialogue as well as some refinements to aiming and level generation.

Early access to Tango Fiesta is currently available to Windows PC and Mac users on Steam for $12.99 with an option to purchase an additional three copies of the game to gift to friends for a total price of $40. No final release date has currently been set for the game, although with a number of planned features having not yet made an appearance it can be assumed that this date is still a fair amount of time away.
