Tales Art Studio Launches Kickstarter For Kumo, Trailer and Demo Revealed

Tales Art Studios, an independent studio based in Finland, recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for its first commercial title, Kumo. Benjamin Gregg, the solo developer for the project, has been working on the game for a little over a year. Drawing inspiration from works such as RIME and Disney, Gregg seeks to create a beautiful and emotional tale “about a young boy looking for a second chance at life.” The campaign, which began July 31st, had nearly reached 50% of its goal after the first 48 hours. At the time of posting, the page has achieved over 75% of its pledge goal.

Kumo is an explorational adventure game that follows the journey of a young boy who ascends through Limbo, searching for the way back home. Run, jump, and explore the vast realm on foot or by spirit. Solve puzzles, hop from platform-to-platform, and find the pathway through the clouds. You can even toss Kumo’s ribbon in the air to take to the skies for a better glimpse at the world around you. Perhaps you may find certain secrets from a new perspective.

Take a single-player journey through a land covered in clouds, lush beautiful ruins, across white snowy Alps and through a strange mirrored temple, meeting the spirits of those before you who took this beautiful but treacherous journey and discover the world around you.

The final game will feature a variety of challenging puzzles, interesting characters, 10 serene musical soundtracks, as well as an inviting world and beautiful story crafted by a professional environmental artist. If you have not already, you can take a look at the Kickstarter Reveal Trailer for Kumo below.

Kumo is currently still in development and is not expected to make its debut to the world until early next year. At this time, the game is planned for the first quarter of 2020. Tales Art Studios hopes to be able to launch the game for both PC (Windows & Mac) and console. If the campaign is successful, Kumo may be looking at a release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam Store.

The studio has also announced that a playable demo of Kumo would be shared on itch.io and Steam. The current preview is not complete version of the game, but does offer a sneak peek at the main character, his abilities, and the world in which he will explore. For more information on Kumo, you can visit the project’s Kickstarter campaign or check out its official page on the Steam Store. If you would like to stay up to date on the game’s development progress, be on the lookout for new updates posted to the Tales Art Studio Twitter and Facebook pages.
