The seven person-staffed Korea-based indie developer Fakedice announced development on their upcoming PC release, Dicetiny. The game fuses together dungeon crawling and card battling, with a predominately board-game base. According to an e-mail from Fakedice, the game’s influences are the Diablo series, the board game Monopoly, and the card-centric video game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
Four classes are available to choose from in Dicetiny. Once chosen, a player will team up with three other players, online, to cooperatively defeat enemies. The main goal is to defeat a diabolical dragon and save the world.
Rolling dice is what moves a controlled character. Cards are drawn, which give specific abilities or serve certain functions. Some card powers are used to heal, attack, run, teleport, shoot arrows, or drop meteors to literally crush enemies. Upon victory, players are given more cards to tweak their decks.
Fakedice has more in store for Dicetiny this year. According to an e-mail from Fakedice, the game will be available on Steam as an Early Access title this coming winter. Also planned for implementation by the end of this year, is a Kickstarter for the game.
A trailer for Dicetiny was released at Gamescom 2014. You can see the game in action below. Also, be sure to visit the developers website for updates.
