Nightdrive Studios, developers for the remake of the game System Shock, originally developed in 1994 have announced the date for the release to be set on May 30. Players can “take on the role of a resourceful hacker as you explore and survive the terrors of Citadel Station brought on by a rogue AI named SHODAN,” according to the website. The voice actor for SHODAN from the original game, Terri Brosius, will be returning for the remake which fans might appreciate.

The developers have also stated that they are working with the original System Shock 1 developer to keep the game as close to the original game. “We’re making System Shock for gamers that missed the opportunity to appreciate the original, and for the dedicated fans of System Shock 1. We love talking to our backers, so please help support this project and share your thoughts as we make the best System Shock for all of you,” said Nightdrive Studios. Developers have also stayed true to the AI theme and have used AI to create artwork for the game. In recent tweets, they have stated that the purpose of using AI was “never at the expense of using skilled people or their creative talents.”

System Shock is currently available to demo on Steam and will be available on the Xbox, Playstation, Windows, Apple, and Linux devices and consoles. The system requirements for the remake note a minimum of an Intel Core i5-2400 or AMD FX-8320 processor and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 or an AMD Radeon HD 7870 graphics card.
