Survival Horror Game Beware Puts Players In The Driver’s Seat

Anyone who has been on a long road trip knows the eerie feeling of being on the road alone late at night. Beware hopes to capitalize on that exact feeling.

Beware is a survival horror game that puts the player behind the wheel of a car that is being relentlessly pursued by someone or something. Not only do they have to survive the onslaught, but they need to explore their surroundings to figure out exactly who is after them and why.

The developer Ondrej Svadlena describes Beware as “an open-world driving simulation where the player embarks on a long journey of information-gathering through exploration. One of the gameplay elements are intense, 70’s movies style, car chases with challenging AI opponents.”

If that sounds intriguing, Svadlena just released the first playable demo to the public, so gamers can now get taste of exactly what the experience will be like, and it seems to be generating some excitement. There is already a Reddit thread dedicated to discussing what people have been able to find so far in the demo (be mindful of spoilers if you do decide to go there).

The demo is also starting to make the rounds on Youtube. Check out the video below to see if the demo might be interesting to you:

The graphics look pretty impressive so far, and the gameplay certainly promises something new and interesting for the genre. The question will be if it is capable of delivering on the long term. Horror games can start with a great concept, but be tough to expand into a full and satisfying experience.

For more updates on the game be sure to keep an eye on Svadlena’s Twitter account. If you’re particularly inspired by the demo and want to contribute to helping him finish Beware, he also has a Patreon.
