After the reaction to Byleth’s inclusion to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Sakurai and Nintendo seem to be looking elsewhere for new fighters. Announced during the surprise Nintendo Direct Mini, Nintendo revealed that one of the combatants from 2017’s Arms will be joining the massive roster this June as the first DLC character of the Volume 2 Fighters Pass lineup. The question is, which Arms character will it be? No one has that answer except Nintendo themselves as they also stated that the new fighter will be revealed the very month they are released.

The announcement itself was also very brief, merely mentioning that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would be getting their next fighter from Arms. Keep in mind that there are 15 fighters in Arms, all with different looks and unique personalities. Basically, it’s anyone’s guess for the next few months albeit with Nintendo’s clues here and there. Still, with that much variety to choose from, any of the aforementioned Arms characters would be a breath of fresh air for the series, especially considering that it’s one of the few newer IP’s exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
Speaking of Arms, Nintendo will also be running a special promotion for all Nintendo Online subscribers. For the next two weeks, Arms is completely free to play for anyone with a paid subscription. All you need to do is download the full game and you’ll be able to play right away. The promotion is already underway and ends at the end of the day on April 6. As we stated earlier, the upcoming Arms fighter is part of the Volume 2 Fighter Pass, which will consist of six new fighters, six new stages, and more music. The previous Fighter Pass supplied the game with five new characters and stretched from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s initial launch in 2018 all the way to February of this year.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available for the Nintendo Switch.
