Nintendo and Universal Studios announced May 2 that the Super Nintendo World theme park is coming to the Orlando, Florida park in 2025 as a part of Universal Epic Universe.
The announcement came with a short trailer giving an animated tour through the two sections of the park, which are based on the Super Mario and Donkey Kong Country series, which will open at Universal Studios Japan this Spring. Each park will be filled with iconography from the games.
Universal’s website contains more details about what will be included in the park. P ower-up bands will be utilized as in the other parks for interactivity with the park. Attendees will be able to purchase bands themed around Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Daisy, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and Diddy Kong.
The Orlando park will have all of the features of the other parks from the start, including the US debut of the Donkey Kong expansion and a new “Yoshi’s Adventure” ride.
Yoshi’s Adventure is a family-focused ride where attendees ride on Yoshis around the park to search for glowing eggs. Also in the Super Mario section is Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, a ride that employs VR goggles to simulate the experience of using items in Mario Kart through Bowser’s Castle, clouds, and underwater.
The Donkey Kong section features Mine-Cart Madness, a roller coaster that uses a new ride system to jump over gaps in the track like in the level of the same name from Donkey Kong Country. It sits between a family coaster and a thrill coaster.
Fans and families can also enjoy a meal at the Toadstool Cafe, participate in Key Challenges with the Power-Up bands to battle Bowser Jr., and meet various Mario characters walking around the park.
The park will open sometime in 2025.
